Once you have downloaded a file you will want to use it.
There are a number of ways that the different file types
can be used with and without Kazaa.
Audio/Video:
- ‘My Kazaa’ view - Double
click a file in the ‘My Kazaa’ view to play
it in the 'Theater', or you can select it to view the
details at
the bottom of the screen. Once it is selected you can
then right click and select 'Add to Playlist' to build
your
own compilation of music and videos, which can be saved.
- ‘Traffic’ view - right
click an audio/video file, and select ‘Preview/Play’. Alternatively,
select the file and click the ‘Play’ button
in the media bar.
- Alternatively - you can open your
'My Shared Folder' (usually on your desktop) and copy,
move,
or play your audio/video
file as you normally would.
Images:
- ‘My Kazaa’ view - clicking
on an image will let you preview it at the bottom of the
screen.
This is only a thumbnail (small version). The full version
can be viewed in 'Theater' by double clicking, or right
mouse clicking and selecting 'View'. (Windows Media Player
version 7 or higher must be installed to view images at
full size in the Theater).
- Alternatively - you can open your
'My Shared Folder' (usually on your desktop) and
copy, move, delete or view your Image
file as you normally would.
Documents:
- ‘My Kazaa’ view - some
document types can be opened in ‘My Kazaa’,
depending upon what applications you have installed on
your computer.
Double click or right click and select 'Open' to open
a file.
- Alternatively - you can open your
'My Shared Folder' (usually on your desktop) and copy,
move, delete or read
your Document
file as you normally would.
Software:
- Virus Checking - it is important to virus check
software downloaded using Kazaa before you
open it. More information on viruses
and security.
- ‘My Kazaa’ view - software
can be opened from within My Kazaa by double clicking
or right clicking
and
selecting 'Open'. Most software will need to be installed
to be used.
- Alternatively - you can open your
'My Shared Folder' (usually on your desktop) and copy,
move, delete
or open your software
application file as you normally would.
Kapsules:
Kapsules contain a collection of individual files.
'Search' View
Open a Kapsule file by clicking the 'Open' button.
You can then choose which individual files to download.
'My Kazaa' View
Kapsules can be played or viewed in purchase mode
by right clicking on them in 'My Kazaa' view. Individual
files from the Kapsule will be accessible from the folder
in 'My Kazaa' view relevant to their file type. For example,
music will be found in the 'Audio' folder, games in the
'Software' folder, etc.
Playlists
Create, share, search for and download playlists of audio/music
and video files. This is a way for you to promote your own
content. Any files that you have created can be placed in
your playlists to be downloaded by others.
‘My Kazaa’ view
Playlists
can be played from within My Kazaa by double clicking or
right clicking and
selecting 'Play'. If a file in the playlist is not available
on your local system, Kazaa will search for
a remote copy and download it for you automatically.
Create a New Playlist
In the ‘My Kazaa’ view:
- Click on 'New Playlist' and complete the details
screen. You will then have a new playlist folder ready
for you to add files. The ‘New Playlist’ option
is located under ‘My Playlists’ in the
list of folders on the left hand side of the screen;
or
- Right
mouse click on an audio or video file, or multiple
selected files and select 'Add to Playlist' / 'Make New
Playlist'.
The New Playlist Details screen will be displayed.
Complete
the details and the new playlist will be created
when you click 'OK'.
Add Files to Playlist
- Right mouse click on audio/video file(s) and select
'Add to Playlist'.
- Drag audio/video file(s) from My Media into the Playlist
of your choice.
File Quality
It is important to note that Sharman
Networks has no control over the quality of the files
that can be downloaded. Files are made available by individual
users
who share their files, and by our premium
content providers. No central control is possible.
Users will be rewarded for integrity rating and sharing
files they created. The more integrity rated files (measured
in megabytes) you share and upload to other users, the higher
your Participation
Level.
