What is a Kapsule?
Kapsule
files contain a collection of links to individual licensed
files and can be shared on any p2p network. They have a file
extension
.p2p (e.g. KAPSULENAME.P2P) and are marked with this unique
Gold icon.
Uses of Kapsules:
- Just like an album, multiple audio tracks can be purchased
and downloaded together as 1 item
- Multiple media types can be distributed together, so
artists/content creators can package audio, video, images,
documents and software files together
- Artists and other content creators can also allow exclusive "Kapsule-only" files
to be given only to customers who purchase the Kapsule
- think of them like bonus tracks on a CD!
When you find a .p2p file, you can open it within Kazaa
and see its contents. Much like a CD case and booklet, a
Kapsule is simply a collection of text, images and links
that represents the files, but does not actually contain
any of the media files. For example if you open a Kapsule
for the album "Joe Popular Sings The Blues", you only download
the images and the references that allow the Kapsule to be
displayed, not any of the files that are promoted within
the Kapsule. A Kapsule only contains references to files.
No media files are contained within a Kapsule.
How Does a Kapsule Work?
When you open a Kapsule, you can view the files that are
referenced by the Kapsule and then choose what to do next;
perhaps preview files, download and purchase one file or
even download and purchase the entire contents of the Kapsule.
Think of it like choosing to purchase a hit single or the
entire album.
How Can I Identify a Kapsule?
Kapsules will appear in your search result screen identified
with the following:
- Unique Gold Icon
- "Open" button rather than "Download"
- When opened, a new "Search Results tab" is created for
the Kapsule
Aside from those initial differences, a Kapsule can appear
however the developer of the Kapsule intended. In other words,
each Kapsule may (and probably will) look very different
from every other Kapsule!
