She is making a Spektor of Herself

Why we Have Become Attached toRegina Spektor

Regina Spektor has waited in the abyss of the 21st century for all to long and finally it looks as if this Moscow-born, Bronx-raised songstress is to rise above the ashes of the fallen piano girls to take her mantle. Her album “Far” released last week superseded all studio expectations from Sire records by debuting at number 3 on the National Billboard charts.

Unfortunately talent and sophisticated songwriting has not been in demand from the general public for sometime but songs that confront us and make us think of the more unspoken aspects of life are set to become the mainstay in the popular charts this time. Regina has certainly had a vast array of training and experience that has lead to this polished album. She is a classically trained pianist but has intertwined her studies of bootlegged Western Pop classics into a fusion of songs that are unique and stand alone with backgrounds of strings and harmonies that make one feel detached but at the same time strongly connected to humanity through an alternate force.

”Laughing with God” is the single released from the album and her popularity has risen dramatically since her performances on American T.V. networks this past month. She has captured a nerve inside American audiences and they like how it feels.
