Kanye West | Hip Hop to Hip Pop

Kanye’s got every reason to be arrogant with his innovative self styled mix of Rap, Hip Hop and Pop.  He leads the way in popular music today. His boundless abilities as a producer, artist and hit maker  set him far apart from his peers and he keeps coming up with the hits. His flamboyant personality and his ability to cross over genres makes him one of the most popular music artists of our time, nominated for ten Grammys in 2005 and with ten Grammy wins to his name.

Critics have called him arrogant egotistical and outspoken. But Kanye lets his art speak for itself. “Now I could let these dream killers kill my self-esteem or use my arrogance as the steam to power  my dreams” – Kanye West, Last Call. His original beats, honest lyrics and brilliant use of samples add up to some of the most exciting music of our time. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Kanye grew up in Chicago. An aspiring rapper, his first featured work emerged in 2001 on Jay-Z’s album ‘The Blueprint’. He struggled with his reputation as a great producer to get to get his own record deal. Finally in 2004 he released his first album ‘Late Registration’. The album sold one million copies in its first month and earned 8 Grammy nominations. Singles include ‘Diamonds from  Sierra Leone’, ‘Gold Digger’ and ‘Touch the Sky’. ‘Graduation’, Kanye West’s second album was released in 2007 and has since gone double platinum.

His work with other artists as producer and collaborator has had as much influence on the music industry  as has his own work. Collaborations with Jay/Z, Twister, Keyshia Cole and Brandy have all spawned hit singles. His latest single ‘Love Lockdown’ takes Kanye West further from his rap origins than ever before. As he once  again breaks new ground in the world of pop.  Download all Kanye West’s hit songs and collaborations here
